Trick or Treat!

I hope everyone is having a Happy Halloween! We've had a busy day between the class party and trick or treating. I think the boy is going to sleep like a rock. I'm sneaking one more monster in before Halloween is over.

Just Ducky

Hello, Friday! We're gearing up for a pre-Halloween weekend. Sadly, that means we're nearing the end of the Halloween jokes. I felt like I had to sneak this little guy in before Halloween though.

He looks a bit like a penguin, but I'm ok with that. I'm hoping the boy will still love it.

Almost didn't get this post up in time. Was tucking the boy into bed and realized I'd never written anything. Kept with the Halloween theme for today's joke and doodle.

Not just for breakfast

I'm happy they've brought back the Halloween-themed cereals of my childhood. Frankenberry, Count Chocula, BooBerry...though I think there was also a werewolf one that I haven't seen make a comeback. Without the resurrection of these classics, I think today's doodle would miss the mark.

I realized this morning that it looks like someone might have slipped something into the ghost's booberries, because he looks a little intoxicated. Maybe the cereal is just seriously delicious. Happy Wednesday everyone!

Cutest little zombie

The boy has loved zombies for as long as I can remember. We even had a plants vs. zombies party for his birthday last year. When I came across this joke (and the adorable zombie drawing used for reference), I knew I had to make it a napkin doodle.

Spooky!

It's coming, folks. Halloween is just a week away. We've already taken our costumes out for a spin. We attended our fifth Boo at the Zoo. It's definitely got us in the Halloween spirit. I'm sure you can guess what that means. Dust off the spooky jokes!

It can be argued that this is more adorable than spooky, but it's a start! Hope you all had a great Monday!

Going Places

Today was field trip day! The boy rode a school bus for the first time, and we hung out all day at a farm where he got to milk a cow, pet bunnies and piglets, watch pig races, and a million other fun things. We also got to pick pumpkins.  It also means, it's the last of the terrible autumn puns for you!

I personally love this one. And for the first time, I got to see the boy pull it out of his lunch to read it. It was kind of amazing. Hope you all have a great weekend!

Falling in love

Leaves and fall are such a good source of puns. The boy seems to be enjoying them so far, so I tossed in another one.

I feel like today's joke is the king of all dad jokes. It's terrible folks; I'm not going to lie. However, it's simple enough that the boy enjoyed it.

Two for Tuesday...again

Due to my forgetfulness, you get a double dose of doodle today.

The boy has his first field trip this Friday, and it's to the pumpkin patch, so I'm hoping to keep a field trip/autumn doodle theme this week.

Yesterday's kitty looks like she's enjoying her trip.

Today's pumpkin looks a little worse for the wear, but it got a good patch job.

I realized this morning that I am a sucker for boogie jokes. It's a fun word to say, and I haven't met a boogie joke I didn't like. Today's doodle is no exception. Plus, it features one of my favorite animated bad guys, Oogie Boogie.

I may have mentioned this before, but, when asked, the boy will tell you his favorite subject at school is recess. I immediately thought of him when I stumbled across this joke.

This probably isn't such a late post for you young whipper snappers, but for this old lady, it's almost bedtime. Today just got away from me, and I just realized I hadn't posted a doodle. It would be a shame too since I really like both the joke and doodle for today.

Double doodle!

The title of this blog post may become my new favorite expletive. It's alliterative and kid friendly. Win-win, right?

Today was parent visitation day at the boy's school. Cutest. Thing. Ever. It made me wish I could observe the class every day. We got to leave them special messages in their pencil boxes for later. I was rewarded with my own doodle and note from the boy.

He, of course, has his own doodle tucked into his lunch.

Under the weather

Don't worry, loyal readers and people who stumbled across this blog today. It's not me or the boy that are feeling sick. It's this poor little lemon.

I sure hope that aid has him feeling better soon. 'Tis the season for the sickies, friends, and I hope good health stays with you and yours through the whole cold and flu drama.

Let's start with a splash of color

So, I officially missed the first doodle of October. We had a crazy weekend at The Great Wolf Lodge and a subsequent lice fiasco courtesy of our stay there. Needless to say, by Tuesday, I was a bit frazzled. Thankfully, we appear to be louse-free. I've never combed hair so meticulously in my life.

Here we are at the first Wednesday of October, and I finally have a doodle! I think this one might be my favorite to date, both for the joke and for the drawing.
