Sunshine on a cloudy day

And you're welcome for the ear worm. I don't know how things look where you are today, but it's been a gray, drizzly mess here. I'm feeling soggy, so I thought I'd give everyone a dose of sunshine today.

I learned today that 5 and 6 year olds have no idea what beams are. Their houses are apparently held together by magic.

Vamp's Best Friend

Guys. For some reason this is one of my favorite doodles of the year. The joke is okay, not the best we've doodled so far, but for some reason, I love the pic for today.

I can't take credit for the wonderful concept. I found an image on google and doodled it onto the napkin, but it's perfect for this joke.

Jellybelly

Today's joke make me think of Pete the Cat. It has nothing to do with books or cats, but the boy's favorite book for the longest time was Pete the Cat and his Four Groovy Buttons. I have a video of him 'reading' it to his Papa when he was just two. Memorized the whole story. Toward the end of the book, Pete has lost all of his buttons but one: his bellybutton. That's the part that today's joke reminds me of.

Something Stinks

Animal jokes seem to be a crowd pleaser. Since I love seeing them all smile, I'll probably stick to animal puns for a while. Also, as a side note, I realized that there are only eighteen days of school left. Brace yourselves. The doodle-less summer approaches.

Drip, drip, drop

It's not April anymore, but we're still getting plenty of showers. The rain has been steady all morning, and gave us a rather damp walk to school today.

I wrote this joke down on Friday, but decided the panda one was better for our big zoo trip. Turns out, this joke is perfect for today.

As a bonus, here's a bear playing in the water at the zoo on Friday. Make sure to turn your volume down. The background noise of the zoo is crazy loud!

Making up for lost time

What a mess this week has been! The boy's school had kindergarten orientation which means he didn't have school Tuesday or Wednesday. Today, we have a field trip to the zoo. It's been a wild, crazy ride, and as a result, I owe you a few doodles.

On Tuesday, we had lunch at the boy's old preschool. It was great for him to see his old friends. I packed a doodle because I knew some of them would remember them from last year and the boy wanted one to share. He asked for a Christmas joke.

No joke Wednesday. I did send him to school with one yesterday, I just forgot to post it.

And that bring us to today! Zoo trip day! I felt it only appropriate to do an animal joke. Unsure if we'll actually see any of these guys today.

Bust a Move

The boy has recently discovered breakdancing and is in love. He's also covered in bruises. He's starting to pull some pretty impressive tricks though. When I came across today's joke, I knew he would love it.

I'm hoping we don't get this type of breakdancing at my house. 

Mush

I'd like to say that I forgot to post this yesterday, but that wouldn't be true. I knew I hadn't posted. I chose to play Skyrim instead. I don't believe video games turn your brain to mush or wreak havoc on your attention span. I do heartily believe is has a detrimental effect on my motivation to do other things. I chose to finish up a few quests instead of posting.

But I did send a joke in yesterday. It was borrowed from a first grader who told it to me earlier this week. I thought it was cute.

It's raining buckets this morning. In hindsight, I should have done a weather joke.

Gonna Wreck It

If you've listened to the Wreck It Ralph soundtrack as many times as I have, you probably have a song playing in your head now. I do, and I'm now wishing I'd chosen a different title for this blog post.

This one took a bit of explaining. When you tell it out loud, the pun isn't immediately recognizable. Once they got it, it was a big hit.

Oh, I C

I had a lot of explaining to do when it came to this joke today. Everyone took it literally. On the plus side, it began a round of riddles with the boy and one of his classmates at lunch. I didn't really understand the riddles they asked me, but I was proud when they answered some of mine. None of them had anything to do with today's joke.

Poor pirates, missing out on so many good letters.

Focus

Spring has brought a slew of medical appointments for this clan. Allergies and optical failings lead the drive to the doctors. Both me and my husband have brought home new contacts and glasses, so I think this joke felt very pertinent.

A Moment of Zen

I may need to explain today's joke to the boy because he's not very familiar with the names of martial art forms. He's usually Darth Vader or a zombie hunter or something instead of a ninja.

Even ninjas need a moment to relax. Maybe I can convince my little Sith Lord to sit down and have a nice cuppa.

At least someone likes pollen

Guys. I want to scratch my eyeballs form my face. And just cram tissues in my nose so it stops running. This week has been killer. They're calling for rain tonight. Please let it wash away this pollen. I get it: Spring, flowers, the beauty of nature, yadda yadda yadda. I just want to be able to walk outside without an assault on my sinuses.

At least the bees are happy.

Brains!!

The boy has loved zombies for many a year. We've had a Plants vs. Zombies birthday party. He draws pictures of policemen fighting zombies. He devours Plants vs. Zombies graphic novels. Because of this passion, I'm always happy when I stumble across a zombie joke.

This fella doesn't look particularly fast, but it's a trick. He's got a hidden jet pack.

The doodles aren't dead!

Not yet, anyway. The boy wants me to pack them with his afternoon snack. So, tell your panicked hearts to be still.

Today's joke is courtesy of the boy's friend in first grade. She asked me yesterday if I would make it his joke today, and I agreed. It's a cute one.

Smells like red

So, the boy told me yesterday that he was going to buy lunch every day from now on. I assumed he wasn't serious given that he hates buying lunch. I packed a lunch this morning and sent him off to school. Come lunchtime, he goes through the lunch line and leaves his lunchbox untouched.

The era of the lunch joke may have ended. It's difficult to send in a joke without a lunch. This may be the last doodle. I'll talk to him tomorrow and see what he'd like to do about it. In the meantime, today's doodle.
