The Beginning of the End

It's officially the last Monday of this school year. That means this will be the last week of jokes until September. We just have to catch up on the last two weeks first!

For Neon Day, I decided to go in the elemental direction.

The next Spirit Day was Organize your Desk Day. Not very many good jokes for that, I'm afraid, so I went with doughnuts instead.

Put Your Best Foot Forward was that Friday. The boy, hating anything close to fancy dress, opted out. So did our jokes, to a degree. At least it was about clothes, albeit not the fancy kind.

Monday was Quiet Day. Our family has had many LOTR viewing parties since the boy was old enough to watch them without getting scared. When I came across this joke, I knew I had to use it!

Read a Book Outside Day. Love that the boy is old enough to get physics puns.

The next day was Sunglasses Day. The boy wore no fewer than six pairs to school. There's a possibility I've used this joke before, but it was too perfect.

This little pun was perfect for Twin Day!

Friday was Unique Day. It was yet another spirit day it was difficult to find a fitting joke for. I stumbled across this dental pun and thought it was so cute that I sent it even though it didn't match the day's theme.

Today's joke has nothing to do with Vintage Day and everything to do with the birthday party we went to, at which there were no less than 30 candles on the child's cake. It was an impressive display.

Three week Countdown!

The end of this school year is rapidly approaching. The boy's cough is finally going away. Things are looking good around here.

I drew this guy for hat day, but the boy ended up being too sick to come to school :(

The boy missed the next day of school also, so no international day jokes. The next day was both jersey day and joke day, so naturally, I went with joke. I thought this one was fitting given all the time from school the boy has missed lately due to his cough.

The next day was kindness day, and I thought about how good it feels when you get a piece of mail that isn't a bill. A random letter from a friend can be a simple kindness. They always brighten my day.

Friday was luau day, so I wanted to go with something Hawaiian themed to match the day. Besides the obvious punchline, Hawaii's state animal is the humpback whale, so I incorporated one into the doodle :)

Today's spirit day is Make a New Friend Day. Who makes better friends than Dr. Frankenstein, am I right?

Fingers crossed that the boy makes it through a full (short) week of school this week!

Slow Recovery

So, I underestimated the plague the boy brought into the house. He was down for the rest of the week. I was down for a few days as well. Thought he might make it back on Friday, even wrote him a joke and packed a lunch, but he didn't make it.

Here's the joke he got to read when he ate his lunch at home.

For his return last Monday, I decided to make light of the sickness, and sent him a joke about being sick.

One more sick joke for Tuesday.

We're doing ABC's of school spirit, so I switched gears on Wednesday from jokes about being sick to jokes that match the spirit theme of the day. Wednesday was exercise day, so I sent a joke about sports.

Thursday was fruit day, so I sent a couple of sweet little pears.

Friday was game day. The kiddos brought board games to school to play with their friends. I sent a game joke with the boy that featured a cute little bat.

Today is hat day, so I drew this friendly cowboy. However, the boy's terrible cough persists, so he's staying home again. I had already packed his lunch before he woke up and I heard how bad the cough was. The high pollen count is doing a number on this kiddos allergies and triggering his asthma something fierce.

Fingers crossed that a day of rest helps get his cough under control.

Rough Weekend

We had a rocky finale to our week last week. The boy caught a fun little stomach bug and missed school Friday. Had a low grade fever until yesterday. Seems to be on the mend though. Recycling Friday's joke for today since I'm a bit under the weather myself now.

Starting off this week with a lot of sniffles, but hopefully we'll all be healthy again soon.

Squeaky Clean, Jellybean!

Today is take your child to work day, so the boy will be tagging along with Papa. I'm assuming they will enjoy a very important business lunch, so I'm not packing one. That gives me time to post the past two days' jokes before I leave for work this morning!

I've done a variant of Monday's joke before with pork, but don't think we've ever worked the sheep angle.

I didn't intend for yesterday's mouse friend to look so angry, but I guess it fits. If you fell into the tub unexpectedly, you might feel as annoyed as this fella looks.

Spring Break Catch Up

Whew. What a busy April we're having. We're moving to a new house tomorrow. TOMORROW. I've still been doodling, but have taken a post hiatus since all my free time has been devoted to cleaning and packing.

Today is the first day of our Spring Break. I'm taking advantage of the extra time to catch up on all the wonderful jokes you've missed this month!

Hoping to get back to a more normal posting schedule as soon as this move is over!
