Heartbroken

Mo announced today that tomorrow's lunch doodle will be the last. So sad to see them end so soon, but I understand that 15 daily videos is a lot, and would be impossible to keep up forever.

April 2:

We made our last Superbounce board and played a final game.

While we won't be playing Superbounce with Mo anymore, I'm sure this isn't the end of this game at our house. Oskar loves making up these game boards. He purposefully made his impossible to win today, but making the final square reachable only if you roll a 7.

So long, March!

Like so many, I'm glad to put the month of March behind me. Hoping April will see a smooth transition into distance learning and more comfort in this new rhythm of social distancing.

Mo's video today was super fun (as usual) and taught us to create some quick paper puppets.

April 1: Our number doodles. Oskar's made me chuckle.

Then, Mo taught us to draw one of his Unlimited squirrels.

Last, we took our new squirrel friends and turned them into puppets using an index card.

Oskar has already put his puppet to work, picking up things like dice when we play board games and helping cleaning up our art supplies when Mo's video was over. I foresee many unlimited squirrel puppets in my future.

More Lunch Doodles!

We actually skipped the Mo video yesterday because the boy was not in the mood to art. So, we packed 2 fun videos into one doodle session today!

March 30: Here are our 30 doodles. Mine is dog and Oskar drew someone opening their mouth.

Then, in honor of Mo's wife's pending birthday, we made cards and crowns.

I made Oskar's crown and he made mine. Oskar also made me this card.

March 31: Here are our number doodles. Mine is a face. Oskar's is a farting butt. Naturally.

Mo also showed us how to draw Knufflebunny.

I think Oskar's looks like an adorable reindeer.

A New Take on Doodles

So, I didn't think this blog would see any updates until school was back in session (which currently won't be any sooner than April 24). Then, the wonderful Mo Willems started posting daily doodling videos for kids. The boy and I watch Mo every day. We're racking up an impressive stack of doodles. I decided today that I could share them here, and keep Mamadoodles alive, since I'm still doodling, just on different paper :)

We've already done two weeks' worth of videos, so here's a bunch of pictures for you.

Day 1: March 16: Mo teaches up to draw Pigeon. Oskar's new obsession with my laminating machine leads to one laminated pigeon to withstand the test of time.

Day 2: March 17:  We made a doodle with the letter F and learned how to draw Gerald. Mo also asked us to make our own elephant and piggie books. More to come on that later, as the boy and I each began our own story!

Day 3: March 18: We learn to draw Piggie! We also made organic jelly bean shapes and then had to turn them into something.

March 19: We drew impossible houses and made puppets out of toilet paper rolls. Is mine a dragon? A green horse? No one knows, but I love him!

March 20: We begin making doodles out of numbers. We make a board for Mo's game called SuperBounce. Board games not pictured here, and wrongly picturing Oskar's art from 3/23 because I fail at photos.

March 23: Oskar's 'Little Chef' picture actually belongs here.We learn to draw Cat the Cat and a pet we wish we could have.

March 24: More number doodles and Naked Mole Rat. Bonus meatball meteor drawn while Mo was talking. We also drew some fun clothes.

March 25: Bonus host Dan Santat taught us draw his character Beekle? (I think) and taught us to use simple shapes to make different foods.

March 26: More fun with number doodles. Also we learn to draw Leonardo, a monster. We make monsters using simple shapes.

March 27: SuperBounce Take 2! We played with Lin Manuel Miranda and Mo, and then made our own game boards and played with just us.

Here's hoping Mo continues to make these videos while this whole social distancing thing persists. We'll keep watching and doodling as long as the videos keep coming!

Suddenly so much free time

Nothing like a good old-fashioned quarantine to force you to catch up on the things you don't usually have time for. I didn't realize that I'm an entire month behind on posting jokes! The last post was Valentine's Day.

That Monday, we didn't have school because it was President's Day.

Tuesday, February 18: Tossed in a couple of Lord of the Rings jokes

Wednesday, February 19:

Thursday, February 20: The boy is so proud of himself because he can locate this constellation, so I felt like this joke was right up his alley.

Friday, February 21: Friday nights are archery nights. The boy loves it. Thought he'd appreciate this as a result.

Monday, February 24: Began a Harry Potter joke binge

Tuesday, February 25:

Wednesday, February 26:

Thursday, February 27:

No joke for Friday, February 28. I was in Richmond for GalaxyCon and my husband was supposed to pick up the joke torch for the day. He forgot :(

Monday, March 2: The boy really liked this joke. I heard him repeat it to a few people :)

Tuesday, March 3: Remembered that it was Read Across America week and that we were celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday. Started a new joke theme :)

Wednesday, March 4:

Thursday and Friday the boy stayed home from school with a terrible cough. Asthma and pollen are a fun mix this time of year.

Monday, March 9:

Tuesday, March 10:

Wednesday, March 11:

Thursday, March 12: Couldn't find my black pen. The boy 'borrows' it to do his homework and I couldn't find where he had left it. He got a purple joke as a result.

Friday, March 13: The boy stayed home due to his cough again. Turns out it was also our last day of school before a two week hiatus while COVID-19 runs its course. We'll be staying home for the next two weeks, so there won't be any new jokes until school is back in session.

Hope everyone out there stays healthy!

We keep going with our superhero theme. Monday February 3:

This joke took a bit of explaining since we don't use cameras and flashes like we used to. Tuesday February 4:

Another explanation was needed for this one. Wednesday February 5:

Possibly my favorite superhero doodle of them all. Thursday February 6:

Friday February 7:

Decided to switch gears and begin Lord of the Rings jokes. Monday February 10:
