Three more days...already?

For some reason, Easter is the boy's favorite holiday. I think it's because he loves to hunt for eggs. We have egg hunts all year long. He's been counting down the days until the big egg hunt. Meanwhile, I can't believe it's already Easter. Where has this year gone?

At our house, the magic of Easter doesn't really end. It lives on in the egg hunts that we have all year long.

Here Comes Peter Cottontail

Remember how I said it was time to retire the Star Wars jokes for a while? I decided to go with something a little more seasonal.

In case you didn't know, there are delightfully cheesy Easter jokes. Most of them deal with rabbits and chicks, but they're all fun plays on words that the boy likes.

My trusty Micron pen is starting to die, so I apologize for the pale ink. It's also why there is a splash of color. Couldn't finish the heart in black. Hope everyone had a hoppy Wednesday!

Angry Jedi

Because of the unexpected sickness last week, I had some extra doodles. (I had drawn a few ahead of time to give me some extra time in the mornings.) Today's doodle is the last of the Star Wars jokes for at least a few days.

I'm sure the Star Wars jokes will resume at some point, but I'm retiring them for a bit. I need some time to think of new material. Hope everyone is having a great week so far!

Spotting a typo

On our way home from school yesterday, I asked the boy if he liked his joke. He recited it form memory, and then laughed. I judged it t o be a success. However, then he said, "I think you meant when he gets a chocolate chip in his fur, Mama."

I have to admit, I think he's right. I'm pretty sure the boy caught a typo today. My four year old is now correcting my grammar. I created a monster.

Now that the plague fog has lifted

The boy caught a cold earlier this week. For us, that means, we had to break out the nebulizer. He was stuck at home for two days. I kept packing lunches, with the hope that he would take them to school, and they kept being eaten at home. This doodle has been waiting for three days to make its debut.

Elephants + Star Wars = a sure hit for the boy. It was the perfect end to a not so perfect week. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

In anticipation of warmer weather

Mother Nature gave us a big tease last week. We had temps in the 80s, and it was wonderful. She seems to have remembered that it's only early Spring though, and this week it has been chilly with plenty of rain. That taste of summer was lovely though, especially since it snowed earlier that week!

Those warm days got me thinking about summer and swimming, and might have been the inspiration for today's joke and doodle.

Of course, the doodle could also have everything to do with the fact that the boy and I both love elephants.  Hope you had a great day!

I scream, you scream

We went to an amazing birthday party over the weekend. It was at an ice cream factory. No, really, and we have a pint of vanilla ice cream in the fridge that the boy helped make. To top it off, it was Star Wars themed. I think it may have been the boy's favorite day ever.

There's a joke that I'd been saving (mostly because I wasn't sure how I was going to illustrate it), and I felt like today was its day to shine.

When I picked the boy up, he was making variations of this joke to varying degrees of success. I think the one that made him laugh the hardest was booty cream. That's one doodle I won't be sending to school with his lunch!

Grooooovin'

I forgot that the boy has a short week of school this week. Tomorrow and Friday, the staff is at a conference in Chicago. So, that means no more doodles for the week.  So, before I enjoy a nice long weekend (from doodles at least), I'll leave this last one here for you.

Hope the rest of your week is wonderful! See you back here on Monday!

Letter Games

We had an unexpected power outage in our building this morning. Like, the entire building, with no power for over two hours. Luckily, the lights didn't go out until after I had made breakfast and lunches, so there's still a doodle today! Huzzah! I was told that the boy had a hard time being coaxed out of the apartment into the dark hallway when it was time to leave for school. Blackouts are scary.

I wish today's doodle had something to do with the dark or lights, but it doesn't.

It does have two cute little critters though. Fingers crossed that we don't lose power again tomorrow morning. Wandering through a dark hall at 6:30 in the morning is just creepy.

Boo hoo!

This joke seemed like such a good idea at the time. It's a simple play on words that I knew the boy would understand, and I was pretty certain he would think it was funny. I asked him about it when I picked him up from school today, and he told me that he liked it. I was relieved.

It turns out that illustrating the joke was more difficult than I expected. No matter how I figured it, someone was going to have to be crying.

I'm just glad it didn't creep him out. That laughing kid sure looks like a jerk. I feel like this joke is meaner than I remember...

Last joke of the week!

Since yesterday was a bust, I decided to go back to a subject near and dear to the boy's heart. That means more Star Wars humor, of course!

I wasn't surprised when the boy said he liked this joke. You can't go wrong if Star Wars is involved. Plus, Ewoks are adorable. I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Out of his depth

So, the joke I sent with the boy today was a miss. It was a play on words that he didn't get. It was far better than the terrible pun in the blog's title, but he didn't get it, so he didn't think it was funny.

You can win all the time, right? I guess this just means I have to come up with a great one for tomorrow to make up for it!

Pb&J

One of the boy's all time favorite lunches is peanut butter and jelly. In retrospect, I probably should have packed that to go with today's doodle.  Instead, he got leftover carrot and broccoli pizza that we made with garlic naan last night. I should have thought my theme through a bit more.

Lava-ble!

I never thought that volcanoes could be cute, until Pixar proved me wrong. The lava short before Inside Out made them so loveable. I'm pretty sure that Lava video helped make this joke so appealing to me.

My own little lava-ble lava factory! Who couldn't love that face? That little guy would never rain a fiery death of burning magma and ash onto you, right? Right? Maybe volcanoes aren't as cute as I thought...
