The Last of the Holiday Jokes

I can't believe I missed the last post before Winter Break. At least I remembered it now, and not once we've gone back to school.

The boy got to share this joke twice. He had it in his lunch at school, but he also packed a dinner to take to Parent Survival Night at The Little Gym last night. I love that he wanted to keep it in his lunch box.

Have a safe and happy holiday. See you in the new year :)

They Never Saw It Coming

Just look at these happy dinosaur faces. They have no idea their destruction is nigh.

I expected to explain this one, but the kiddos all got it. Even if my comet does look like Cousin It floating across the sky.

Squeezing in a few more holiday jokes

There's only three more school days left before Winter Break. No half day on Friday. I feel cheated out of a few precious hours.

Today's joke pays homage to a family tradition of mine. Ever since we were kids, my mom has stuffed an orange into the toe of our stockings. This only stopped because she no longer gives us stockings, not because we're too old for them, but because my family nixed giving each other gifts in lieu of taking holiday trips together.

Santa brings the boy an orange for his stocking every year too.

This orange is either having a great time, or a terrible time. I'll leave the interpretation up to you.

Ho-Ho-Ho Hold Up!

Apparently I've missed the last three posts! I know things have been hectic around here with the impending holiday, but I had no idea I'd been so neglectful of this blog. Luckily, I've still been snapping photos of the doodles. I just haven't been posting them.

That means today you get a quadruple helping of mamadoodles.

Thursday's was a sweet little duck looking for snacks.

The boy really liked that one.

I sent a knock-knock joke in on Friday. One of the boy's classmates was amazed that the shoe looks so real. It made me chuckle since it's such a simple doodle.

Yesterday's joke required more explaining than I expected. The kids didn't make the leap from Florida to warm weather to snow melting. I had to fill in the gaps.

That brings us to today's joke. I thought I had done this one already, but it was a different gingerbread man joke.

I'm hoping this one goes over better than the last one. Going to do my best to post daily for the rest of the week.

Batman's Not the Only One Who Smells

The boy's favorite Christmas carol is Jingle Bells. I'm not sure if he actually likes the tune, or if it's just the only one he knows the words to. Either way, when I saw this joke, I thought he would like it.

O Christmas Tree

We've had our tree up since Black Friday. It's the boy's favorite Christmas tradition. When I saw this joke, I thought he might appreciate it.

We'll have to see if he recognizes the word 'canoe.'

Playing Catch Up

We went out of town on Friday, and in the rush to get ready, it looks like I forgot to post. Again.

I thought Friday's doodle would be a hit, but the boy told me it wasn't funny. Hope you appreciate it more than he did.

I drew today's doodle as the boy was making himself a sandwich for breakfast. I thought it was very appropriate.

We'll see if this goes over better than Friday's joke.

Double Dose of Doodles

Oops. Looks like I missed yesterday's post. I'm doubling up for you today to make up for it.

Yesterday's doodle showcased a very jolly shark.

Today's doodle might go over the boy's head, but I loved it. Hope you do too.

Oh, Christmas Tree

Many thanks to Billy for posting a meme that inspired today's doodle. While it wasn't a joke per se, the spirit of mamadoodles was in the pun.

Plus, cute little dino friend :)

Looking Fancy

Fun fact: a Google search for fancy snowman drawing will not reveal dapper snowfolk. Thanks to the Rudolph movie for the inspiration today as my Google search failed me.

Hanging Out

Our tree has been up since Black Friday. The boy barely held out for that long. He had it decorated by Friday night. He loves Christmas trees, so I thought he would appreciate today's joke.

Just the Essentials

The boy wrote his letter to Santa last night. It's an itemized list, most of which are precious gems. He also decided he wants to start getting holiday jokes in his lunch. He's super excited about Christmas this year. He decorated the tree by himself, picked out the candy canes to hang on it afterward, and helped wrap some of the gifts to his cousins. Since Christmas is my favorite holiday, I'm loving his enthusiasm.

So, we're starting the holiday jokes early this year. Nothing but holiday jokes form here until Winter Break.

P.S. That's an excerpt from the boy's actual list.

What a Catch

Apparently fishing is an intergalactic pastime. I never would have guessed.

Now the real question is, what are they using those Earthworms to catch?

Near Miss

We're back! Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend. Remember how I promised all the space jokes? Now that turkey day is over, the space jokes are back.

Poor little meteowrongs.

Duck Disguise

If you have a little one in elementary school, you've probably helped them disguise a turkey to help it avoid becoming a Thanksgiving meal. The boy chose to disguise his as a storm cloud, complete with rain and lightning. This kid loves the weather.

Today's doodle and joke remind me of that turkey project.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Not all Keys Open Doors

Only two more days until the big turkey day. Only one more joke after this one. Tomorrow is a half day and then the boy is off for the next two days to celebrate Thanksgiving.

I suppose this joke could also work for monkey, but those guys could probably open doors if trained. Turkeys will never have the opposable thumbs necessary for knob turning.

Gobble It

Given that there's a very special turkey day coming up this week, I decided to put the space jokes on a hiatus to do a couple of Thanksgiving ones.

UFO's

When the boy read this joke in the car, he started cracking up. It might be one of his favorites from the space joke book so far. Today's doodle is eerily similar to the illustration in the joke book. My alien just isn't wearing a space helmet.

Because, really, who wears a helmet while they're frying eggs? Unless I've been doing it wrong this whole time...

That's a Mouthful

I hope you're like me, and that these space jokes won't ever get old. Drawing aliens is fun.

The boy and this alien are kindred spirits. Mine loves marshmallows too.

Flying Saucers

Technically, there's only one flying saucer in today's doodle. There are two saucers total. One just doesn't fly.

If this falls flat at the lunch table, at least the kitty thinks it's funny.

Lunar Cycle

I dug the Space joke book out of the library bag. The promised spaciness commences today (just one day late!)

Space was a Lie

I know I said there would be an influx of space jokes. Here's the thing. Mornings come early, and we cleaned the house yesterday, so I put the space book away. I had this much more accessible joke, so went with it. I promise it's still a good one, it just has nothing to do with space.\

More space jokes tomorrow. Maybe.

Light beverages

We went to the library yesterday. The boy found a joke book filled with outer space jokes. It's a gem. Be prepared for an influx of jokes that are out of this world.

He read me this joke yesterday, and I told him I was going to send it in his lunch today. He requested that I draw the illustration that is in the book. I complied. So credit to the authors Sean Connolly and Kay Barnham for the great jokes and the fun illustration used for reference.

Rock a bye baby

The boy was reading a National Geographic book about rocks and minerals this morning. He read me this gem, and I decided it would be fun to send it for lunch today.

My pebble just looks like a bald baby. Maybe I should have colored it gray.

Wednesday, November 8, 2017

I'm Yelling Timber

The boy and I just finished a book called Wishtree by Katherine Applegate. The main character is a tree that tells terrible jokes. The boy really enjoyed this one, so I thought I would draw it as today's doodle. It's one of the only doodles I haven't used a reference picture for.

Side note: I love Applegate's books. This is the third I've read and they never disappoint.

Lucky Day

It's too early for me to say if this will prove to be true, but I'm hopeful. It really just matches today's joke.

It could be argued this is more of a riddle than a joke, but I used it anyway :)

Monday, November 6, 2017

Peds

I'm hoping the boy will be able to read all of the big words in today's joke. It's a good one though.

Rawr!

Cowabunga

Did anyone other than Michelangelo (the turtle, not the artist) ever say this? A quick google search says it actually originated on the Howdy Doody show. A little fun trivia for you this Friday morning.
For some reason, this was the first word that popped into my head when trying to come up with a title for today's doodle.

Have a great weekend :)

Late Start to November!

I missed the first post of November! Inktober has come to an end, but November brings its own challenge. I'm participating in NaNoWriMo, so will be trying to write 50,000 words of a novel by November 30. This means there may be a lot of missed posts this month. My brain tends to be all over the place in November with novel writing and Christmas and Thanksgiving prep. Bear with me. I promise all the doodles will be posted eventually!!

Here's yesterday's. We were running late after sleeping in, so I went with something simple.

Today's doodle has a little more substance to it.

Hope your November is off to a great start!

Last Day of Inktober!

Happy Halloween!!! It's the last day of inktober and today's prompt is #mask. I wanted to do a joke about nature's naturally masked friends.

I'd like to note there's a shortage of kid-appropriate jokes about raccoons. Thanks to those who helped me find this one!

Monday, October 30, 2017

Found!

Today's inktober prompt is #found. The jokes is a bit of a stretch for the prompt, but I think it's close enough to count.

See? This little hippo must not be as good at hiding as the rest because I FOUND him.

Climb

Yesterday's inktober prompt was #climb, so I doodled one of my favorite climbers :)

This one got a good chuckle from the boy and his friends. I was surprised because I thought they were going to think it was lame. Shows I have a lot to learn about six year old humor.

Thursday, October 26, 2017

Squeak

Today's inktober prompt is #squeak. I naturally looked for jokes about mice.

And this little guy is just so cute!

Blind Ships

So. I missed another post. Apparently, I only wrote yesterday's post in my head. That means today's post is another double header.

Tuesday's prompt was #blind. It took me forever to find a joke that wasn't completely offensive to blind people. Or blondes. Virtually no kid-friendly jokes about blindness or blind(ish) animals. This was the best I could come up with.

Today's prompt was #ship. I'm always up for pirate jokes, so I went nautical. I also learned that most kid-friendly pirate jokes have a lot of rrrrrrrrr's in them.

Monday, October 23, 2017

Juicy

Today's inktober prompt is #juicy. The only joke I could think of, I've already done in the past. So, I tweaked this knock knock joke to reflect something we did this weekend. We went to Boo at the Zoo on Friday night, so the boy got to wear his Halloween costume for the first time. Figured I would make today's joke be about his costume.

Saturday Morning Cartoons

So, it looks like my week ran away from me. We had a filed trip Thursday and Boo at the Zoo last night, and in all the hubbub, I forgot to post twice in a row!! That means you lovely readers get two Saturday morning cartoons.

Thursday's inktober prompt was #cloud.

I felt like a splash of color was needed to really do the bow justice.

Friday's prompt was #deep. Instead of drawing a hole or a well, I went for something that can live in the deeps.

Here's hoping next week is a little less hectic so the doodles get posted on time!!

Wednesday, October 18, 2017

This Little Piggy Got Paid

Today's inktober prompt is #filthy. I didn't intend to do two piggy jokes in a row, but dirt and pigs just go together so well.

Maybe piggy will use that cash to go to the spa for a mud bath.

Tuesday, October 17, 2017

She's Got Grace

#Graceful is today's inktober prompt. I liked today's joke because it wasn't immediately something that you would equate with the word graceful. Hoping the boy gets it since he's not the biggest fan of ballet.

Monday, October 16, 2017

So Full

Today's inktober prompt is 'fat.' While there is a treasure trove of your mama jokes dealing with that topic, I wanted to go with something less harsh.

It's an oldie but a goodie.

Friday, October 13, 2017

Shattered Swarm

Missed yesterday's post. That means instead of bad Friday the 13th luck, you get a bonus doodle :)

Yesterday's inktober prompt was #shattered.

I didn't want to draw a broken Humpty Dumpty, so he's just in the midst of imminent cracking.

Today's prompt was #teeming. A synonym for that is swarm, so I decided to go with a cute bee-themed knock-knock joke.

Wednesday, October 11, 2017

Running Joke

Today's inktober prompt is 'run.' I thought about illustrating the old refrigerator running joke, but decided to branch out.

I used a bluebison.net cartoon for inspiration. Took out the otter and subbed in the octopus.
