A Squirmy Were-Cousin

Everyone knows about werewolves. Not as many know there are lesser were-cousins who are still affected by the full moon. In Don't Starve, the game that has taken our household by storm, there are werepigs; vicious creatures that chase you around if you get too close during the full moon.

When I came across this joke, it made me think of the boy.

He may not be as terrifying as his lupine cousins, but this little wereworm is still fierce. Your garden doesn't stand a chance.

Even Donuts Need Dentists

Well, maybe they don't, really. It's not as if they have any teeth. Unless you're eating some sort of donut I have yet to be introduced to. Mine typically can't bite me back. Today's joke makes a case that they might need dentists after all, whether or not teeth are involved.

If all of my fillings were chocolate, I might look this happy while I sat in the dentist's chair too. Mine usually require multiple novocaine injections as they never want to take on the first go round. And they taste infinitely worse than chocolate.

On a side note, and so I don't leave you with horrible memories of the dentist's office, one of the boy's classmates told me that he thinks I draw better than the art teacher. Because of this donut. So that's something.

It's Not as Bad as It Looks

So, my last post was Wednesday. Looks like I really fell of the wagon, right? It's not as bad as it looks. We didn't have school Friday because it's the end of our marking period. That means I really only forgot one post. And I'm going to blame the incredibly busy weekend we've had even though the post should have gone up before the weekend started.

This little bat went to school on Thursday. The boy and I were both still a bit under the weather then. It was a good soup day.

I'm interested to see what he makes of today's joke. Will he understand the fly is French because of the beret? I'm not sure he even knows what a beret is. We'll see how it goes.

Not Going Well

Things are going rather sickly at casa de Gilliam this week. The boy was out of school on Monday because of a bad cough. By yesterday evening, I had the tell tale scratchiness in the back of my throat that warned I would be sick when I woke up this morning. My body did not disappoint. Cue sore throat and runny nose. On top of that, I forgot to post yesterday. On the upside, that means two jokes today.

I thought this joke, and the dino, were both adorable. The boy said he liked the picture but the joke wasn't funny. Maybe today's will go better.

We've been playing a lot of Don't Starve: Shipwrecked while sickness runs its course. There's been map reading and treasure hunting galore. Hopefully the humor of this one will be appreciated more than yesterday's!

A Bit Prickly

When I came across today's joke, it made me think of the boy. I feel like it suits his sense of humor perfectly. We'll see at lunch time if I'm right.

Still Not Enough

We were out of school yesterday day due to snow. We got a light dusting, maybe 1/2 an inch. Not enough to make a snowman, but enough to keep us home for the day.

I thought I'd give the boy some snowmen in his lunch as a consolation, and then remembered today is pancake day at school. The only day the boy ever wants to buy. So, the joke is tucked in with his snack :)

Twofer Tuesday

Looks like I forgot to post on Friday. Whoops. I had the long weekend on my mind. That and Don't Starve. I had a mild addiction to that game and it's eclipsing all other priorities like writing and eating. It's a seriously fun game.

But getting back to the doodles, here's Friday's late post:

The boy loves giraffes, so I thought it would be fun to give that tall guy an umbrella.

I overheard the boy telling a school friend today's joke, but he changed the punch line a bit.

He told his friend the answer was 'sand money.' Guess it's close enough!

Squish Squash

What a turnaround this weather has taken. Subzero temps last week and didn't even need a jacket today. Given the thaw, I decided to take a break from wintry jokes. It certainly didn't feel like winter this afternoon.

This dino looks like he loves to make jam.

Splat!

After struggling with yesterday's doodle, I kept things much simpler today.

We've only got traces of snow left in shady patches here. Yesterday's warm up cleared most signs of winter out of here. I'm sure there will be more snowballs to come before Spring arrives, but these two will have to tide the boy over until we get more snow.

So Slick

We got out of school early yesterday due to an ice storm. We're going in two hours late to give it time to thaw. I thought today's joke was extremely relevant given our current weather conditions.

I learned something about myself this morning. I cannot draw trucks. This is my second attempt. The first has already found a new home in the kitchen trash. This may be the last automotive joke you see here. Things with tires are hard to draw.

Another Snowman

I didn't realize I've done two snowman jokes in a row until I looked at my picture history. I guess I've got them on my mind since we still haven't gotten enough snow this winter to build one.

It's another chilly day here, but Friday's forecasted high is 65 degrees. It's going to feel like an early summer after all of these single digit temps.

Bombogenesis

My little weather nut got to learn a new term this week: Bombogenesis. While he's excited, we've dipped into temperatures below zero. We had a snow day yesterday, even though we barely got a dusting of snow. I think it was just too cold for anyone to want to come in. We've got a two hour delay today and are sitting at a balmy -3 degrees when you factor in the wind chill. It's only  8 degrees regardless. So, Brrrrrrrrrrrr.

We didn't get enough snow to build a snowman, so I gave one to the boy in his lunch today.

Stay warm!

Whatever Floats Your Boat

I realized after drawing today's doodle that there is a very real chance the boy won't get it. I'm not sure he knows what a leek is.

Also, he's going to tell me this looks like celery. I can feel it.

Wop Bop a Loo Bop

Guys. It's cold outside. Like single digits cold. I know there are many colder places than this, but we usually don't dip down this low. Think we'll be driving to school today even though it's only a ten minute walk from our house.

After the shortest holiday week ever, we're going back to school today, which means you get new doodles. I figured we should start 2018 out with a bang. Well, more of a toot.

Happy New Year!
