The Last of 2020

Today was our last day of school until January. Can't wait to put this year in the rearview. But first, let's play catch up.

Day 68: Monday December 14:

Day 69: Tuesday December 15:

Day 70: Wednesday December 16: Would have been a snow day if this school year was normal. Instead, we had 'asynchronous learning' as usual.

Day 71: Thursday December 17: Should have been another snow day. Virtual learning happened instead. As soon as the school day was over, the boy went outside.

Day 72: Friday December 18:

Day 73: Monday December 21: Finally remembered I should have been doing Christmas jokes.

Day 74: Tuesday December 22: The last day before Winter Break!

So long 2020. Have a safe and happy holiday!

Day 67

Oh, Friday. We missed you. The boy was in a TERRIBLE mood for most of the morning, but we managed to get it turned around by lunch time. I'd like to say the joke helped, but he didn't even read it until about five minutes ago.

Days 64, 65, 66

 Tuesday, December 8

The boy really liked this one. He told me more than once how much he liked it :)

Wednesday December 9: Yes, I decided to go back to doodling on Wednesdays, even if the school day is a bit weird now.

The boy was excited about this one because it had a splash of color. The fuzzy caterpillar just wouldn't have been the same without it.

Thursday, December 10: Today's doodle is a new personal favorite. I love fancy animals.

Monday, December 7, 2020

Days 58-63

 Monday, November 30:

Tuesday, December 1:

Wednesday, December 2: So the boy's school does this weird thing now where they don't have live class on Wednesdays anymore. They are supposed to do asynchronous work. The boys believes this means he no longer has school on Wednesdays. As a result, I tried not packing a lunch or drawing a doodle that day. It felt strange. I think I'm going to pack a lunch this week anyway.

Thursday, December 3:

Friday, December 4:

Monday, December 7:

Poor butterfly. He was just trying to have a good time.

I can't believe I let myself get this far behind on posts. I will try to do better.

Day 57

The boy doesn't have to log into Zoom tomorrow for class, so today is our last technical school day before Thanksgiving.

Hope you all have a happy and safe turkey day!

Monday, November 23, 2020

Day 56

I forgot we only have two half days of school this week. Guess I should have started my Thanksgiving jokes earlier.

I got a "good one, Mama," from the boy for this. The pressure is on to find another one he likes that much for tomorrow.

Days 52, 53, 54, and 55

Let's play catch up. Tuesday's joke had the punchline spelled wrong.

They spelled it so that it was just antelope with a 'c' in front of it. I couldn't get behind the misspelling, so the melon is spelled the right way. The joke still works.

Wednesday:

Such a sweet little fox. He's letting his burrito get cold.

Yesterday's lesson: how to draw a forklift. I've literally never had a reason to draw one before.

Today's joke required some explanation. I knew it would, but couldn't pass it up.

I made the boy read it out loud a few times. Once he got it, he ran downstairs to immediately tell it to his Papa.

Day 51

I don't know why, but today's joke is a recent favorite. It's so darn cute.

Happy Monday :)

Days 47, 48, 49, and 50!

Wow. Fifty days of school already. It only feels like it's been 3457634062794857.

We didn't have school on Monday because it was the end of our marking period, so our jokes this week start on Tuesday:

The boy made up a joke on Tuesday night, and I thought it was great, so I doodled it for Wednesday:

Yesterday's joke actually is about some other breed of dog, but who can pass up a corgi in a sweater, am I right?

Which brings us to today, wherein I discover that there aren't any reference images for ants in evening attire.

Still loved this joke though. Have a great weekend everybody!

Days 44, 45, and 46

We all know why these posts are late. Like everyone else in the country, I've been glued to an election map since Tuesday.

There are only 3 jokes this week because the boy had both Tuesday and Wednesday off from school.

Monday's joke was the first non-Halloween joke in a while, and one of my new favorites!

Yesterday I decided to pick up a fall theme for the jokes, and will move into Thanksgiving ones soon, so feel free to share if you have any good ones!

The boy really liked this one :)

Today's joke kept with the fall theme.

Day 43

Happy Halloween Eve! Today is the last of our spooky jokes.

The boy got a good chuckle out of this one. As a bonus, here's the special treat I made him for his virtual class party today.

Hope you all have a safe and spooky Halloween!

Day 42

For the first time, in a very, very long time, I almost forgot to draw a doodle! It was around 10:30 when I realized I had yet to pack a lunch for the boy today. Must have been a busy morning.

At least it was a joke the boy liked!

Days 40 and 41

This one didn't get a spooky drawing, but I love giraffes, so...

I thought the boy might not get it, but no worries. He liked this one. (I think it's because he is also partial to giraffes.)

Today's joke was another winner for the boy.

He even tossed out a fun fact about the Dead Sea after he read it!

Day 39

I saw this joke during a livestream last week, and knew it would make the rotation.

I'm happy to report the boy approves of this joke :)

Friday, October 23, 2020

Day 38

Instruments are hard to draw ya'll.

But at least we ended the week on a high note. ;)

Thursday, October 22, 2020

Day 37

Not too happy with my drawing for this one, but it gets the point across.

Better yet, the boy said he loved it, so I've been redeemed after the flop yesterday.

Days 35 and 36

Yesterday's joke got a cackle out of the boy before he proclaimed that he got it.

Today's joke was the first time a skeleton joke struck out. I was so surprised when he told me he didn't get it.

Monday, October 19, 2020

Days 32, 33, and 34

Oof. Falling behind again. That means you get three jokes today!

Thursday: The boy seems to understand the skeleton jokes best.

This one took a bit of explaining, but only as far as reminding the boy that pork and lamb chops exist.

Today's joke needed no explanation :)

My vampire looks like a baby wearing a bib. Maybe it's a really juicy orange.

Wednesday, October 14, 2020

Day 31

Our morning was all out of sorts today. Everything was done out of order. The doodle wasn't drawn until minutes before lunch, but I still made it in time!

Bonus: the boy loved the joke and was so proud that he understood this one. <3

Tuesday, October 13, 2020

Days 28, 29, and 30!

Good grief. I really fell behind this time!

The boy didn't understand Friday's joke at first.

I had to explain what bone china is.

I didn't mean to do two skeleton jokes in a row, but a weekend has a tendency to make me forgetful. At least this joke took no explanation.

Today's joke went over his head too. I know his class has discussed idioms, so I thought he would know this one since it's used regularly.

At least I got a sweet little werewolf out of the deal.

Thursday, October 8, 2020

Day 27

Thursdays I actually go into the office. I leave right before the boy's lunch break ends. As a result, today's joke was read about 10 minutes ago.

Wednesday, October 7, 2020

Day 26

Wednesdays are always strange for us now because there's virtual learning in the morning, but after they break for lunch, that's it. Asynchronous learning for the afternoon. To the boy, that means every Wednesday is a half day. He's been out of school since 11:30. Ask me if his math homework is done yet...

At least I can still give him cute jokes.

Days 24 and 25

Since we've entered the month of October, I'm going to take a stab at giving the boy a Halloween-y joke every day.

My blood hound ended up with a thick neck, but at least he looks happy about it.

This devilled egg is just the cutest. The boy has literally never eaten one, but still liked the joke.
