Days 20 and 21

We didn't have school Monday because of Yom Kippur. That means I'm really only one day behind on posting.

I thought yesterday's joke was really cute.

I'm happy to report the boy got the joke and said he loved it.

The picture for today's joke isn't as cute.

We're studying first aid kits and readiness in cub scouts right now, so I felt like it was an especially appropriate joke for the boy.

Days 17, 18, and 19

 Friday three-for-all!

The boy didn't get this one at first. He was unfamiliar with the idioms. I didn't realize those phrases weren't used anymore. Mama is officially old.

I struck out with this one too! He didn't remember who Yankee Doodle was and didn't know that Brits call Americans Yankees. We had a little lesson about it.

At least today's joke was a success! Plus, isn't that the sweetest volcano you've ever seen?

Days 15 and 16

When the boy read this one, his response was "Ha, ha. Very funny." While I'm glad to see our lessons in sarcasm have paid off, I hope it's not a sign that his appreciation of puns is waning.

He liked today's joke much better. Faith in his love of bad jokes restored!

Day 14

The boy liked today's joke so much that he doesn't want to throw away the paper towel.

It always makes me happy when he likes a joke this much, but on the other hand, I don't want a bunch of old paper towels hanging around the house. Hence the reason I started this blog. I'll do my best to persuade him to let the hard copy go.

Days 12 and 13

Looks like I missed another day. It's a shame too because the boy really liked yesterday's joke.

His reaction to today's joke cracked me up. He said, "I get it, and it's totally true!" I love it when the jokes are appreciated.

Day 11

I think I liked today's joke more than the boy.

Fun fact: tangled giraffe necks are more difficult to draw than I imagined.

Day 10

This one took some explaining, but I couldn't pass it up because I thought it was so cute!

And I've been singing the song in my head all day long.

Days 8 and 9

I already missed a day! Going into the office in person, followed by Back to School Night led to a forgetful Mama.

I unknowingly kept to the bird theme this morning. Didn't realize it until I started drawing the crow and remembered I drew a bird yesterday!

Day 7

I took a gamble with this one, unsure if the boy would get it.

I was happy when he shouted victoriously that he got it!

Day 6

The long weekend almost made me break my posting streak! I remembered just as I was finally walking away from my computer for the day.

Out of the blue a few weeks ago, the boy decided to make a Statue of Liberty out of air-dry clay. It's sitting on his computer desk. It made me think he would appreciate this joke. It took him a minute, but when it clicked he laughed out loud. Always makes me smile.

Day 5

Another early release day. This time to celebrate the long Labor Day weekend.

The boy is so funny. He reads these and proudly proclaims, "I get it!" I'm so glad he still appreciates my terrible puns.

Day 4

Somehow, even though I was home at the time, I don't remember the boy's reaction to today's joke. He claims he loved it. I choose to believe him since my memory clearly can't be trusted.

Day 3

Every Wednesday is a half day to give teachers extra time for planning due to the brand new approach to learning. The boy, of course, fully approves of any afternoon of freedom.

He's currently naked, wrapped in a soft blanket, watching Dan TDM. What a time to be nine years old.

He didn't get this one at first. I made him read it a second time and it clicked. Then he told me, I should have just left off the river bit. I accepted the criticism with a graceful eye roll.

Day 2

Look at me, posting two days in a row. I feel so accomplished.

Oskar had a virtual lunch date today with a classmate. Facetime while they both ate and lamented that they couldn't play video games. Good times.
